Yesterday I spend most of the day practicing Latin dancing. There was dance workshop organized by my dance club in Latin Styling with Isabelle Farand.
Isabelle and her partner have been competing professionally together since 1998, and were part of Shall We Dance, starring Richard Geere and Jennifer Lopez, in 2003. They have been Canadian Latin Finalists, North American Latin Finalists, Can-Am Latin Champions, and Philadelphia Dance Festival Champions. I was surprised by how many people showed up.
The workshop was great, a lot of information on techniques of Latin dancing and a lot of practicing. Today I can feel this in my lower back and feet, but it was well worth it.
It is always great to go to workshops like this one, because you have a chance to learn from the best and usually these are information you won't get at regular dance classes.
We spend one hour on each dance and covered: Cha-cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, Mambo and Jive.
